Our Featured Quilter Janice Harding Harris

               Janice Harding Harris

I started off my professional career as a dental hygienist after graduating
from OHSU. I worked primarily in a pediatric dental practice in Eugene,
Oregon before returning to school and getting my elementary education degree.
I combined both careers until starting my family and moving to Boise, Idaho for
three years. We moved to Vancouver in 1996.

I have been fascinated by quilts every since I can remember. I started quilting
over 30 years ago, teaching myself bits and pieces until I started taking classes
in Eugene. Since joining Clark County Quilters in 2007, I have been able to
participate in some wonderful workshops taught by instructors Marsha
McCloskey, Sharyn Craig, Melody Crust, and Barbara Shapel. I am very much a
traditionalist and do a little bit of everything and love it all -- precision piecing,
hand piecing, appliqué, hand and machine quilting, and pattern drafting. Lately I
have been focusing more on machine quilting and hand appliqué.

I have taught classes at Cottons and at the Primitive Thimble. I have entered two
block contests -- one in Eugene years ago and one more recently with Clark
County Quilters -- and was fortunate enough to win both of them.
